One GTD list or four?by durbrow - 05:17PM, Jan 16, 2006 |

I am still getting a better GTD template together for beginner GTD NoteBookers. One problem I am having is deciding whether the lists:Next ActionsProjectsSomeday/MaybesWaiting Forshould all go on one outline page or four. The advantage of one page, I think, is that it is easier to grab a task from the Projects suboutline and pull up to Next Actions. The advantage of multiple pages (4) is that it is easier to clip email, webpages, etc to one of the four lists. What do people prefer and why? Thanks for any suggestions.P.S. I suppose you can use 4 keywords for the 4 lists but the consensus seems to be that keywords are best reserved for contexts. |

I'm using separate lists, but I DON'T keep a list of "next actions". Whenever I add a status checkbox to a cell, that cell is a "next action". Then the ToDo index is my list of next actions.

I follow precisely the same system. It would be nice if I could have subheadings on the ToDo index to delineate the keywords (which I use for @contexts).

I've gone back to using multiple outline pages for my GTD lists and I've also used the suggestion for using the To Do Index. Here is a tip: You can't edit Index page names but you can add and edit their tabs. I've renamed my To Do Index Tab to "NEXT ACTIONS" and my keyword page to "CONTEXTS" Cool?

...So how's that template coming? I'm brand new to both GTD and Notebook and would be a very appreciative guinea pig for whatever you've come up with, are currently using, etc... Thanks! Peter
