Is there an automatic way to set up and handle “tasks” or to do list items that reoccur at regular time intervals – like daily, weekly, monthly?

No, not AFAIK. I've even tried to write an AppleScript to reschedule my recurring tasks. But even though NoteBook has a fairly large AppleScript dictionary most of it doesn't seem to work :-( I really hope AppleScript will be improved for the next version.

:-Håkan

There is not a way to set up recurring tasks in NoteBook, but this is on the possible future features list.

While there is an AppleScript dictionary in NoteBook, it is not complete and is not supported. This is something we'd like to add in a future release as well (it's not a trivial exercise to accomplish this).

You probably have Sync Action Items to Entourage selected in the Page menu for one or more pages. You can easily find such pages by looking at the Stickers page of the Multidex.

I eventually moved to OmniFocus as I needed a more hardcore GTD tool than NoteBook. This is still a fantastic app though and I upgraded to v3 despite not having used the app for a long time. I still recommend it to non-hardcore GTD’rs as well as any other Mac or potential Mac users.

Actually, I seem to remember that the method described in Allen’s book does not include recurring tasks. When an action is done in the first folder, you move it to the last position (i.e., the same day in the next week).

I do this way: when a recurring task is done, I click on its due date and then on the same day of the following week, when the miniature calendar appears. When I need to see all occurrences for a longer time (like birthdays, check-up meetings or lessons), I just create more occurences of the same task (this happens for a very limited number of tasks in my agenda).
