Tablet or Livescribe Pulse smart pen and Notebook Compatibilityby Kristin - 07:19AM, Dec 08, 2008 |

Hi I have been using my notebook for taking class notes. It works well for some classes but for classes that require diagrams such as physics and chemistry, I find it hard to use. Has anyone had any experience with the tablet use in the 3.0 version, or know of compatibility with other tablets or the pulse smart pen? Thank you, Kristin |

Hi Kristen, I am a physics teacher that uses Notebook and a tablet to present to my class. I have been doing it for about a month now and I have had no problems with it. Students love it and it records everything so I can print notes for students who miss class or for special needs students. I use a Wacom Intuios 6×8 and do all my “whiteboarding” in Notebook. It works great. I hope this helps!

With the Newly released iPad, I am hoping to see a version of Notebook for the iPad, which could offer different keyboards for entering in data like formulas and equations (for math class etc) or a mode where you can draw diagrams or write equations with math symbols just with your finger. That would be fantastic!

I am taking some math courses (2009-2010) and I use a Bamboo Craft tablet. Had a Genius tablet and it died… I take notes, do homework that I can print out neatly and without scribbles, and store anything related to my courses (syllabus & addendums & other text files, online screen captures, and digitized documents) in their own dividers. I have noticed Notebook slowing down considerably when trying to ink on a full page of objects. My work-around is to do all my new inking in a temp cell, then copy it in with everything else when I am finished. For normal note-taking tasks, there is no problem unless the page is extremely long (for instance, entire books that I’ve imported to highlight and mark up…). It seems that trying to mix text with objects gives the system stress, so I stick with either one or the other—most of the time I “focus on shapes” in the view menu and do everything with objects.
