How can I delete the items in the index. Example, I do not need "and" "what", 'if' etc. indexed. I need the index to look like a traditonal index of a book.

Common words like "and," "what," etc. are not indexed (although there was a bug in v170 where they were). But, to the general request of removing words from the Text index page, that's a feature we need to add.

I sort of have the opposite problem. I just began to use (about 3 days ago) the trial version of NoteBook and saw that everything was nicely indexed. Now, however, I tried to see my indeces and noticed that the only thing indexed was things that I wrote today. What can the problem here be and how can I fix it? Thank you for any help.

If you use "view package contents" to look inside a NoteBook file, it's possible to throw out the index files. After that, the index will behave as you've described. If you haven't used "view package contents", (and maybe had a small accident)

I also suggested to Doug that he try rebuilding the index this way, but I stressed that this was not a solution and to let me know if the problem recurs. If the indexer isn't working correctly I would like to fix the problem. You shouldn't have to rebuild the index to get everything to show up properly.

This was with an older version, but when I removed an index it did not return. Any new material I inserted was indexed as usual, but the old material didn't re-appear.

I did what Jayson suggested and everything is working great now. It has been almost an entire day and I've been adding info all day with no problems. Everything that I have ever typed in is now indexed. Thanks Jayson. Maybe it was just a fluke.
