Using NB for preparing lectures

by mwarner - 02:42PM, Feb 02, 2005

Hi,
I'm trying to use Notebook for preparing lectures for graduate level courses, and would really like to use it as the format for posting my notes, images, and articles for my students. However, I really don't want to post my entire set of lecture notes, but a scaled down version. It would be great if one could somehow designate which cells or text was visible and then say export this as html or another notebook file to do this. In the mean time, I would like to hear what other educators are doing in this regard.

What you might investigate is to do a superfind to get the cells you want (eg keyword "Student"). Then select them all, copy, paste into a new notebook. Unfortunately they're then no longer linked and they lose their context...

Perhaps there will be more tools for working with superfind results one day!?

Using superfind almost works for this. I decided to use a sticker next to all of the cells containing my detailed material that I don't want to give to the students. Superfind has no problem finding these for me, but I cannot do a batch delete on the superfind results. If this were possible, I would have exactly what I need.
