Notebook as Textbookby suzyq2463 - 06:03PM, Aug 24, 2008 |

Hi,I’m a professor of Old Testament and Hebrew, and every semester I teach a course called Survey of the Old Testament. I teach at a Baptist University that requires Old and New Testament for all its students.I used to print up an unpublished textbook that I wrote for my students. But this summer, I converted that textbook into Notebook format and published it as a web document. Not only has this saved lots of trees (no printing required), and lots of money (the students don’t have to purchase anything), but now what was once a static, boring, black and white textbook has come alive. The book is in color, has active web links, I’ve created illustrations for it, and I can include all sorts of pictures. So now, the students have a document with which they can interact.Of course, this is my first attempt, so there’s lots of room for improvement, but I thought I would share it with the Notebook community as an idea others might like to incorporate. Here’s a link to the textbook on my .Mac site if you’re interested in looking at it:http://homepage.mac.com/suzyq2463/Overview/I’d welcome any suggestions you have for improving the book. Thanks,Susan |

Susan, I just joined, happened across your post and then took a look. What a terrific use of NB and, more importantly, what terrific substance. Great work! pdm32
