How to sync laptop and desktopby artyshots - 11:31AM, Jun 05, 2009 |

I love the idea of Notebook, but an organizer will not work for me if I am unable to get my thoughts down seamlessly whenever I am at either of my computers. I don’t see this issue addressed directly in the FAQ’s and User Manual online, so I’m wondering if anyone can confirm that notes done on one will be available on the other and how that is accomplished. Does it automatically sync in a cloud or does it require you to quit and save to web, then download from the web when you are on the other computer? Thanks for any insight you can give me. |

Hi, ”... or does it require you to quit and save to web, then download …” Yes. Have a Great day! ---

I use Dropbox to sync my Notebook files between desktop and laptop, and it works very well, particularly as notebooks and the application itself are locked when open. I have managed, with heroic effort, to have a notebook get out of sync on two computers, but only ever once and it took some doing :)

Drop box is a good solution if you are on the same network. If you have Mobile Me, you can save it to your iDisk, but I recommend compressing it before saving to prevent corruption. We are working on a way to sync notebooks as well, so this may be an option in the future. Travis

I use SynchronizePro to sync my laptop and desktop, it works flawlessly.

Ditto on the dropbox nod. Once you’ve accessed the notebook(s) from each computer via drilling into the dropbox and opening each one, a simple Open Recent… will recall them from their remotely saved location (caveat: apparently, the Open Recent is broken in/by Snow Leopard per another thread). As long as I’ve remembered to close the file elsewhere, it opens with no problem on any of 3 different macs.
