I am trying out the demo version of Notebook and deciding about switching from MacJournal.

What I am having a great deal of trouble with is the clipping service. It works just fine but I am unable to modify the title of the clipping until after it has been put into the notebook.I was able to get it to put each clipping on a new page. Is there away around this or is it something I have to live with?

If you are using Leopard or earlier, there is a command in the NoteBook contextual menu called Clip and Annotate that allows you to do this.

In Snow Leopard, Apple reworked the way the Services and contextual menus work and as a result, Clip and Annotate did not carry over. Our software development team is investigating potential ways that we might bring this back in future updates.

Thanks for the reply.

I am using Snow Leopard

Not sure if this will deter me from purchasing?

I just purchased notebook and don’t seem to be able to set up the clipping service to work… is this the same issue? I’m using v10.5

If so, is there anything I can do, I purchased notebook specifically for clipping

Page → Add a clipping service.

If it’s not showing in some programs, it’s b/c those programs are not Coco (mac native) and don’t support contextual menu clipping. If you don’t see it in right click context menu, right click Notebook application in your dock and choose “paste to x” or click on the Program name in the toolbar (for example, “Firefox”), Services, Clip to X.

Remember to select what you want to clip, or those options won’t be shown.

I’m also having problems since I updated to Snow Leopard. I think there’s more incompatibilities, and more than just “non-Cocoa programs”.

I define a clipping service, setup a keyboard shortcut, and it doesn’t work from any application, including Safari. I can drag-drop to the dock, but neither clipping nor clipping/annotating works from a keyboard shortcut.

Note that right-clicking on text gives me the option to Clip, but no Clip and Annotate.

Any chance we can get this fixed soon? This was a major part of the reason why I continued using Notebook over other products that I have licensed…

I’m using Snow Leopard v. 10.6.3, and am having the same problems described by others. The clipping service was one of the NoteBook features I was most interested in. Hope there’s a fix for this soon.

If clipping in general is not working, the individual clipping service might not be enabled in the Services menu. Choose Services Preferences from any application’s Services menu and make sure NoteBook’s clipping services are enabled. NoteBook automatically enables these, but they may have become disabled for some reason.

Note also that in Snow Leopard, Services are now contextual. NoteBook’s clipping services require a selection of some kind to be enabled. So if nothing is selected, you won’t see them.

If you are still having problems, feel free to contact technical support here and we’ll be glad to help out.

I am also having trouble with clipping services in Firefox. Attached is a screen shot. It looks like everything is set up. But, when I highlight something from the web (using firefox) and choose services, there is nothing but “services preferences” to choose from. Help would be great.

Having issues with clipping anywhere – I was able to successfully clip a recipe into one document, but when I opened up a note-taking document I am unable to clip things into that – the menu will only let me clip it into my recipes document. Also, I cannot clip things from powerpoint. Help would be appreciated.
