MobileMe Sync Problemsby mike2lane - 12:54PM, Jan 30, 2010 |

Hello, I have been using MobileMe to sync my files for law school for about 6 months without error. This semester, I began using Notebook for everything (and I mean everything I do in school is in this one *.nb file). Now, however, every time MobileMe tries to auto sync, I get the pop-up with: “iDisk error There is a problem syncing the file . . . A problem occurred. Please try again later.” Is there a solution that does not involve me having to deal with another company? Every other solution I have seen is the peremptory “use another disk manager.” Well, I would like to keep using MobileMe and not have to change horses mid-stream so to speak. As many of you may know, law school is time-consuming enough without having to re-invent the wheel in the middle of the semester. Any help is appreciated. |

I use dropbox i/o mobileme (since it’s free), but this may be the same issue dropbox users have been having. See this thread: http://forums.circusponies.com/categories/4/posts/12516 Use the link to request a beta of the new version, the .moddates file is a lock file and probably keeping notebook from syncing on mobileme. Also, I had an issue a while ago when working w/Notebook (also a law student) in dropbox where I lost stuff (pages went blank, attachments and text gone). I was able to restore using dropbox’s web interface, but I think sync programs can have issues syncing .nb files since it’s really a hidden folder with sub-directories filled with files. Some of those remain locked while Notebook runs, which means some won’t sync and some will. What I do is, after every class or two, copy and paste my file into dropbox to allow it to push up to the server so I have a backup. If the beta version or next release doesn’t fix it for you, try manually copying to mobileme i/o syncing. Also, try dropbox. It’s the bomb.

I also have this problem and it is driving me crazy. Any solution would be hugely appreciated.

I realize I am reading this several months after the fact, but as I also plan to use Notebook for law school…I wondered if someone found a solution. Also for those of you who sync with dropbox, is your notebook file editable??

I use notebook and dropbox for my business and I never had any issues with syncing as long as you close the notebook on the first computer before opening it on the second. — Last edited 10:46AM, Oct 02, 2010 |
