Shapes and text in the same layerby kaloer - 04:22PM, Feb 08, 2010 |

Hi! Is it possible to have shapes and writing text in the same layer, so that the shapes move down when you add a linebreak above the shape? Or are there other ways to, e.g., add a line between to words in the text layer? Thank you in advance! // Kaloer |

I’d be curious about this too. I do diagramming in Word since I don’t like doing it in Notebook due to this (if you do ANY formatting it can throw shapes off and have them now covering text, etc).

Maybe not an ideal solution, but try this: draw your diagram anywere in the page. The, select all diagram’s elements. Cut them, and insert your text pointer inside an outline item. Paste the diagram inside the outline item. Paolo

Paolo, I’ve found Notebook doesn’t let you cut diagrams, just copy and paste them as free floating objects. Is it possible to actually cut and paste it into a cell? It won’t even let me paste it into a cell after a copy, just as a free form object. Thanks. — Last edited 05:54AM, Feb 13, 2010 |

Paolo, thank you for the answer! Your solution works as a temporary solution for me, as i am mostly using the writing pages. But unfortunately, it is not possible to copy/paste shapes with outline. // Kaloer

There is a curious bug here. If you drag to include all shapes in your selection, you can copy but not cut. You can only cut if you select alla shapes with Shift+Click. It seems correct to say that the pasted diagram is no longer a diagram, but an image. You can however devove a page to sketching diagrams, and then copy them into your actual text. As for pasting into an outline, it works here. I just create a new outline item, press the left arrow to switch it to text input mode, and paste the diagram/image. Paolo
