Newby Question on Voice Annotation

I noticed that Voice Annotation files open in iTunes as QT.mov files. Is there some way to change the default recording file format to MP3 in order to reduce the size of associated NB files? How?

I’d be curious about this as well, I understand mp3 requires licensing so that may be why though. If there was an option for .ogg that’d be good too though.

Also, indexing to typing would be awesome (playback highlights text you typed at that moment), ala OneNote.
