How to delete a page (entry on a Divider page)?by wkiri - 10:53PM, Nov 15, 2003 |

This is a very basic question. I cannot seem to figure out how to remove entries from a Divider page (which correspond to individual pages). I have several "Untitled" pages now floating around in my Dividers. I tried to ctrl-click, but the context menu does not give an option for deleting, nor does the delete key remove it, nor do I see a relevant option in the menus. When I go to the Untitled page, I likewise do not see a "delete this page" option. Can anyone tell me how to do this? Thanks!

Selecting the cell on the divider page and hitting the backspace key works for me. Alternatively you can select the cell and use "Edit -> Delete" from the menu.

I guess that's the problem. I can't seem to select the cell. If I click on the name, it lets me edit the name (but if I delete the whole thing, when I move off the cell it reverts to "Untitled"). If I click on the button, it jumps to the Untitled page. Using the mouse to drag around the cell doesn't work either. Since I can't select the cell, Edit->Delete is greyed out.

Okay, I think I managed to select a cell. Part of the difficulty was that the page background was a light blue, which blended almost exactly with the "highlight" color for selected cells. In a semi-related question, is there an easy way to move from cell to cell other than clicking in the next cell to move to it? I'd like to be able to use the arrow keys to navigate down to the next cell or up to the previous one. I tried different combinations of ctrl/fn/option/alt/shift with the arrow keys, to no avail.

To select the cell more easily, click in the area beside the button but not on it. (I find this a bit inconvenient too.) To move between cells, use plain up arrow and down arrow. David

Thanks, David. I kept trying to click near the button on the left side of it, which doesn't seem to work, but clicking on the right side of it (before the text starts) does. I still can't move between cells with the arrow keys. If the cell is highlighted, then I can move at that level. But if I'm typing text into the cell, I can't move beyond the cell boundary (e.g., to the next cell). Am I missing something?

quote: No. This is the way it's supposed to work. Do you want to skip between existing cells, or do you want to make a new cell right after the one you're in?

quote: When you're typing in a cell, the arrow keys move the insertion point up and down within the cell. You have to press Return to end editing and then the arrow keys will select the next/previous cell. But what you're trying to do seems reasonable. Seems like if you're at the bottom of a cell and you hit the down arrow, the insertion point could/should move into the next cell. Still thinking about this.
