Cell numbering questions

Cell numbering questions

by AtomicCanuck - 12:33PM, Nov 26, 2003

When I specify the type of numbering I want for my cell in the inspector it is applied to the entire page. I would like to be able to apply it only to one cell and it's children like in this example:

http://www.circusponies.com/pages.aspx?page=products

and than

choose importing and you will see a sample page of what I would like to do

Is this possible or in the example each numbers was entered by the user and not using the cell numbering function.

Thanks

After working a while I was able to figured it out.

I think NB definitely need a good instructions manual with example. The forum are excellent but most of the people don't expect rely on it to lear how to used the application.

NB is very powerfull but for the people that are not computer oriented they will not use half of the features.

I agree. The Help file is attractive, and I appreciate all the revisions in this version. . .

But Help is not the same thing as a User Guide, or even a QuickStart.
As instructions.

How about Help in Notebook form, too. Seems a natural. Then I could search it!

Someone else suggested collecting the Hints, here, in more usable form. That's a great idea, too. I doubt a developer can possibly be aware of the way lone users stumble in the dark, cursing his name. In the general sense. No one developer in particular. Oh noooo.

. . oops, mustn't bite the hand that feeds us. . . Not too hard, anyway.

You need to select the numbering tab in in the inspector.

In "Style" you select "Sibling Number".

You then select "Customs Setting". At this point you can specify the setting for each level of indentation.

All the settings apply to the page.

This should be a good start.

But in the example it looks like the cells are siblings, yet the first sibling does not have any numbering.

OH, contexual menu on the cells and hide their numbering. Gotcha.

You can also change this in the Cell Attributes inspector.
