How to password protect a notebook on .Macby pinklemon - 03:59PM, Oct 18, 2006 |

Hi folks, I am new to the forum, hope to become a regular.
My question/problem is how to publish using the main process in NB to .Mac and get it set behind a password. I am school teacher (Biology- UK equiv of K12) - and I wish to use NB for posting class notes etc on the web. Student protection rules here are very tight, here (as they should be) so for most of this stuff I want it all behind a password at least. Any ideas on how to do this? A parallel is MacJournal - from which you can publish to .Mac. Here it is possible to password protect the page (an option in the publish menu in V4.05). Is this an extra that will have to wait? Any ideas? I currently dont have use of a FTP site - just 2 .Mac accounts, one of which is devoted to school stuff. It is important when using the web as a teacher - I can prove to any authority that what I am doing is totally above board. Hence I even have a powerbook for school and a MacBook for private stuff. Basically if an inspector decides to check out my powerbook + school .Mac account they can - totally transparent. FTP sites unless the schools own are usually not trusted (.Mac - just!) - and the school's IT techs are as touchy as hell about how teachers use the servers. So really for this it is .Mac or nothing. Thanks in advance of any help! |
