Hello Again Fellow Notebookers.

I am pleased to announce the availability of the 2009 dayBook Template. Before I say anything else I wish to thank all those who have emailed me to thank me for the 2008 version and encourage me to continue to distribute it in 2009 by committing to make a ‘payment’ for it by donating time and or money towards the well being of our planet and its myriad life forms.

Distribution
I have revised the distribution model this year – when you request a copy I will email you a temporary URL where you can download it from. This URL will change on an irregular basis so if you need to re-download for any reason you will most likely need to re-request an updated / current URL.

I have taken this action to make it easier on those whose ISP’s have created numerous problems by both blocking the initial send of the template (as an email enclosure) and all subsequent attempts to communicate.

I do however ask that you keep the URL to yourself – one of the rewards I get from distributing the template is knowing with a reasonable amount of certainty exactly how many copies have been distributed. For 2008 it was exactly 600 successful transfers up until 2008.12.19

What it (the dayBook) is!
For those of you new to my template here is an outline of what it is.

It is a NoteBook document set up as you would pretty much expect a ‘Day to a Page’ Diary. The NoteBook has 17 tabs [sections] pre-set.

Notes+ Tab
Contains various note sections such as

the intro ‘How I use it’
Software I prefer not to go without
Books / Articles of Note I Have Read – 2009
Expenses / Budget Control – 2009
Family Days – 2009 (for birthdays, etc)
Health / Medical Notes – 2009 (hopefully to get little use)
Purchase Reminders – Books – 2009
Purchase Reminders – Music – 2009
Quotations & Thoughts of Worth
Sources / Gift Ideas – 2009

and a few others. Several of the above sections have starter tables on them to make their use a bit easier.

2009 Tab
Has a full year calendar for 2009, complete with Hyperlinks to the related page in the dayBook

Month Tabs
There are 12 ‘month’ tabs / sections with each containing the following pages (Jan 09 example):

Special Days / Events / Notes – Jan 2009
2009.01.01-Thu
2009.01.02-fri
etc., thru to
2009.01.31-Sat

Each ‘day’ contains a section at the top entitled.

New Action Items,
followed by a half page width underline divider

Next Actions Tab
This is actually a renamed Tab on the in-built ‘To Do Items Index’ page of the NoteBook.

Details on how I use these two ‘Next Action’ related items are included on the Intro page in the template.

How to get a copy
That pretty much covers it – if the above description sounds interesting and you would like a copy please email me direct at:

This is the fastest way, I check this account at least twice a day.

Leave a message in this thread which I will get a copy of – PLEASE remember to include your email address, either directly in the request [preferable] or at least in your profile.

IMPORTANT: No email address – no template. Sorry.

NB: Although most emails are replied to with a few hours please allow 36 hours before you think you might have been missed as sometimes I have to (pretend) to work so I get paid each month.

Failed Sends
EVERY person that sends me an email or requests the d/l URL via this Forum (see the note above) gets a personal reply (attempt) from me without fail. If you don’t hear from me within approx 36 hours at the maximum then:

     a. I didn’t get your request OR
     b. You didn’t supply an email address OR
     c. My send to you bounced

Sending me abusive eMails will not endear you to me nor will it make me think that you are such a wonderful and special person that I should develop ESP or take up witchcraft just so I can locate you amongst the billions of bipeds on the planet.

Error in download file – Fixed: 2009.09.03-Thu – 10:15 [AEST]

Thanks to Rebecca who notified me of the problem resulting from an error in the zip archive of the latest release that caused the expanded notebook doc to fall apart has been fixed.

If anyone who downloaded in the last 4 days has a problem with reading the template could you please email me (pettri#ozemail.com.au [substitute @ for #]) and I’ll send you the updated link for this week.

My apologies to anyone who has been inconvenienced by this and thanks again to Rebecca for the heads up.

Thx for the template. It is very well organized & showed me some features that I didn’t know existed. I love the way the New Actions entered into a day page automatically populate the Next Action page. Also liked your implementation of Key Words. Finally thx for including your links. I’m going to read that David Allen GTD book & make 2009 the most organized year of my life.

For some reason, that isn’t working for me – but it is a feature I am very interested in. I assumed that if I put a task in the “Next Actions” section at the top of a day page, and gave the item a due date, that it would automatically populate on to the Next Actions Page. Do you have any suggestions for what I might be doing wrong?

are you making each of your NA’s ‘Action Items’?

After selecting the cell to make an Action Item select:

Menu/Outline/Action Item/Add a Status Checkbox

or more simply Select the Item and use the keyboard Shortcut:
