Flexible Margins & Rule...

Flexible Margins & Ruler Issues

Hi,

I just got a mac, and I just got Circus Ponies. I used to use oneNote and a PC so please bear with me.

I am confused as to how the right flexible margins work in CircusPonies. When I am working in a “writing page” I would like to set the right margins of the page so it doesn’t move when I make the window bigger or smaller. Every time I do that, all my formatting gets messed up. I was wondering whether it is possible to set the page margins so that they are permanent, so to speak, for the page and/or entire notebook.

I tried using the ruler in order to make this work, but it doesn’t seem to be helping. If anyone could explain how to fix this, I would be SO grateful.

While on the topic of rulers: I would like to set a custom ruler for a page for entire notebook, so that instead of making a full tab indent (1 in) it would be half an indent (or .5 of an in). Does anyone know how to set this so it’s permanent? I don’t want to have to adjust the rulers each time I open a new page!

Last question, is there an “undo” button anywhere? I accidentally deleted about 3 hours of work, and there was no “undo” button like there is in Word so that I could just get my text back. Needless to say, I’m a little frustrated, and am hoping someone can help.

Thanks!!

Jess

On a Mac, command-z will undo most actions. Or go to the Edit menu, and near the top you will see Undo [last action]. It works for deletions in Notebook.

To fix the indent issue, select all the text, click view/ruler. Now you should see the ruler bar. There are small arrows in the upper left corner of the ruler that you can drag and drop onto the ruler to place the indents that you would like.

I am having the same issue as Jessica. I see that blurped showed how to format the text correctly AFTER it is written. But, like Jessica, I want to set those tab stops in advance so when I hit the tab key, I’m at .5-inch not 1.0 inch.

I also have a problem with the re-sizing of the text when I change the size of the window.

I’d appreciate input – especially the first ruler/tab issue.

@Teach You can still set the ruler without selecting the text. It will automatically apply to all of the area after your cursor.

Also, if some of your document has the .5 indents, but other parts have the 1.0 indents, put your cursor in an area where the .5 indents are working. Choose edit/copy/copy ruler. The select all the text and choose edit/paste/paste ruler. This will apply the custom ruler to the whole document. This can also be done between different pages in Notebook.
