Question about an Outlining pref

by A_T_O_M - 01:21AM, Jan 01, 2009

In the Preferences Outlining dialog, one of the settings is regarding “Cell control style.” It is followed with a radio button next to blue arrows, a radio button next to black arrows, and then a slider.

Just what is this feature referring to?

Easier than trying to explain it, it is to try it. Open an outline, and enter a few lines. Change that preference. Do you see any change?

Oh, “it changes the bullet style.” But from your reply, ptram, you’ve made it sound like my question was much more demanding to answer. So I gotta wonder, now, if there’s more to this than just a five word answer.

Have I observed the entire function of the Cell Control Style, ptram? Or is there more to it? After all, “Cell Control Style” suggests to me some type of manipulation of the functioning of a cell, not just the visibility of the bullets that represent it. Intuitively, if the sole purpose of that preference was to change the bullet style, I would think the preference would be labeled “Bullet style.”

PTRAM, If you were honestly attempting to make your life “easier than trying to explain it,” do you feel my additional questions reflect that conclusion? If anything, you’ve made my experience with this message board less desirable now; like my questions are pointless to answer; especially considering the fact that I’ve spent a substantial amount of time over the past 4 days previewing this application, so I can use it most effectively for next term’s classes. Yet your response suggests that I haven’t done that, like I am just some codependent out here looking for somebody else to give me all the answers.

I’ve had my 17” Macbook Pro for 3.5 years now, and I’ve spent a lot of time reading discussions in the Mac community. To this day I still cannot get over this smug attitude that Mac trolls project toward other people on these forums; forums that should do nothing but serve as a help for others, rather than leaving people with more questions and the feelings you’ve given me this morning. Good grief…

Atom,

If you spend so much time telling how you feel offended by how others are trying to give you a simple hint, I bet you have so little time to check how a radio button works.

As for the “troll”, judging from your attitude, what about telling it to yourself while at the mirror?

Have a nice day.

Geez, man. Why can’t you just be helpful? If you aren’t trolling here then why are you still not helping???
