Sync NoteBook between computers

I love my NoteBook application so much more now that I know how to use it with my customized pages and etc.

I use mainly on my desk top Mac Pro computer, but now that I use my NoteBook always, if I were to use on my portable computer MacBook pro as well, how do I sync between two of them. I already bought Family Pack License so I can use one of that for my MacBook Pro computer. But certainly I would like to have synced up between my Mac Pro and MacBook Pro. So I don’t need to worry about if I wrote important message on one then if I knew automatically or manually synced then I know everything is up to date.

Does anyone know about sync capability?

Other solution would be if I Networked MacBook Pro to Mac Pro, so whenever I need to use NoteBook I can open the application On MacBook Pro. Dose this slow down the application, or the computer is fast enough I don’t need to worry about that.

Although I still like the idea of sync better.

You can sync with services like Dropbox or MobileMe, but don’t simultaneously have notebook running on both. If you make edits on both machines, you can corrupt the notebook as the sync software tries to stitch them together.

If you can be good about closing it out on one computer, letting the upload sync complete, and wait for the down sync to complete on new computer before opening and editing, it works fine with the exception of some issues (search mobileme or .moddates in the genius bar).

Thanks for idea AWDriver. I do have MobileMe account. How do I go about sync using MobilMe account, I am not clear about that. Do I upload my entire NoteBook file, after zip it….I am still newbie to this sync issues.

So if you don’t mind can you explain to me in a detail. It would be wonderful if I can make to work.

Thanks again.

I don’t use mobileme, so I can’t speak to that particularly, but you can generally select files to sync or place what you want to sync in a specific folder to work out of. Just do one or the other (whichever MobileMe does) and notebook should push changes over MobileMe as you make them.

If you are going to use syncing software such as MobileMe’s, it’s safest to archive the Notebook first (before syncing) using the Finder’s Compress command (in the File menu).

That will help prevent potential data corruption from syncing software that has trouble with file packages, which is what a Notebook file is. A file package is a special folder that the Finder (and other OS X applications, if they follow Apple’s rules) treat like a single flat file. MobileMe is known to have issues with file packages (it’s been acknowledged by Apple in the past).

I’m using Microsoft Live Sync and haven’t had any problems so far. It’s free and almost no limitation.

Once you set folder to sync, you don’t need to do anything. Edit files, and quit NoteBook. All files will be synced automatically.

One note to use Live Sync. You need to run both machine during sync. If you can not run a machine at the same time, for example if you shut down Mac Pro when you use MacBook Pro, SkyDrive may be more useful for you.

Good luck,

Just use dropbox , much easier and faster than mobile me.
Dropbox is free with a 2Gb account.
If you sign up please use my referral that way we will both end up with more storage space.

I use dropbox to sync between office and home computer and it works seemless as long as you remember to close and save the notebook before opening it on another computer (Notebook will give you a warning if you forget.
